I agree – ick! Furthermore, Lady Macbeth’s dog? What?! While most of the titles are creepy, the last one is really, really concerning.
Yeah there are some pretty scary ones in there. I’m sure some of them are pretty disappointed when they actually click on the link to your site. On the other hand some will be glad they found you. If I recall, I found your site through someone else’s blogroll. Can’t remember for sure who’s it was now. Might have been blogzilly.
Good God.
Evidently those two words is “too short” for your comment section, so here are some more:
Good Lord.
the “is” should be “are” — I’m horrifed by lapses in grammar 🙂
Your website was being snotty with me, saying that my admittedly concise “holy crap” comment was too short to publish. Fine, let me elaborate on it: Oh wow ick indeed, this is some intensely disturbing collection of search words and it creeps me out. Hope it’s long enough for the wordcount-police 🙂
Holy fucking shit on a Popsicle stick.
Holy shit is right. U G H !
But maybe the statistics also show that the majority of your readers are not reading you or finding you for these reasons…? Ever think of just not looking? Would it make a difference?
BTW how in the HELL do # 1, 15, 17, or 19 POSSIBLY turn up your blog in a search??
Disturbing! People are messed up! Jeesh….
Oh my. Dare I ask how one would find this info out? Now I’m interested in what leads to my blog. I don’t know why.
Now I’m curious to google “dad sniffs my bras.”
Let’s all google it and make the phrase trend! lol
I googled it and this blog is the number one search result for it. The other related results are disturbing, and gross.
It’s interesting that Jo thinks the last one is most concerning. If there is one thing I’ve learned from this blog, it’s that the desire — the thought — to abandon a disabled child is normal and natural, the question is just who actually does it and who doesn’t. Perhaps the person doing the search is just in a bad place right now. Perhaps her decision will be partially decided by whatever information the search brings up — if there is no guarantee the child would get basic care, then she’ll stick around. At least she’s doing some research before doing anything. In other words, behind the concerning situation is a minimal level of responsibility.
To me the worst are “dad sniffs my bras” and “what is it like to fuck your own daughter,” the first because something creepy is happening and the second because something creepy is being contemplated. I don’t know how “normal and natural” those thoughts might be, but I doubt most people take the steps of googling it or raiding their daughter’s panty drawer. Ew.
I find Sarah B’s point to be a good one. I thought that last one was sad. I have seen searches to my blog that involved sentiments like that, and I wonder if it helps or deepens their hurt when those stressed out folks find blogs written by people who are coping in some way. I hope for the former.
As I was getting Pearlsky ready for school this morning and dressing her, I realized I did not know if her bra was clean so I … um … I took the bra and … never mind.
Sicko? You want sicko? One of yesterday’s search terms was “worlds severist child corset.” That brought the person here.
Not most concerning, but very concerning and very sad indeed. I certainly hope that the person who searched has no intention of actually acting on it.
I’m still trying to figure out the one about Lady Macbeth’s dog. That one seems to be the most benign, unless I’m really missing something.
Jo: Shakespeare tells us that while Lady Macbeth is sleepwalking (Act. V Scene I) she starts to talk. Believing her hands are dirty she proclaims “Out, damned spot! out, I say!” In high school, a close friend of mine made fun of this line and she used to say, ” ‘Out, damned spot!’ Lady Macbeth said to her dog!” Finally, I used the bastardized quote here. Mystery solved!
I am thinking of making a quasi-sometimes-feature of showing one or two of the strange searches that got people here. I will link it to where they landed.
By the way, I ain’t ever using the word “corset” again! 😉 Here’s another search from yesterday:
“corseted by mother in law stories” Must be one disappointed guy when he got here.
Ah, gotcha. I’ve heard the Lady Macbeth/Spot joke, but I couldn’t figure out what it had to do with you and/or Pearlsky. Thanks for clearing that up! 🙂
OK, I take it back – “corseted by mother in law stories” search is really, really concerning!
Some one needs to call Chris Hansen. Ok, what parent of a disabled child hasn’t sniffed a butt or something else deemed inappropriate by others? Great, now you will get linked to butt sniffing too, sorry.
