Drool, drool, drool …
Pearlsky drools. It is good and bad. How is it good? Her teeth are in great shape and the dentist swears it is the drool that keeps them “washed.” Who knows? But I do know about bibs, towels, being in public, etc. I had a great idea a while ago and did not run with it. Now someone else has.
KickStarter is a website where, if you need investors for an idea, you post there, get investors, start your project / company, and in some way pay them back. Either in product, love, or whatever.
Drool a problem? Go visit, invest if you want, and tell them SingleDad sent ya. Just hope they don’t send you drool when they’re rich …
I don’t have a drooler but my daughter with Down syndrome is very hard to fit so I appreciate the efforts of anyone making clothing options for our special kids. Thanks for the heads up on this one and I hope word spreads quickly. SD must have a few million readers give or take …..
Oh- I thought the product was going to be a container to collect drool and then use it to wash your teeth.
I was way off.
This is a great idea worth supporting. But I just placed my order for a 3/4 length long sleeve shirt because it also looks like a cool shirt. 🙂
LauraW, have you seen this site? http://downsdesigns.com/
So thoughtful of you Sarah. I have been following the progress of this company for a few years now and was thrilled to see someone addressing the special fit needs faced by many with Down syndrome. I CAN sew but was not wanting to HAVE TO sew/alter all of my Sophia’s clothes.
Just realized comments reached through blogger were fixed. Now if my plumbing issues were as easy to fix as SD’s website life would be wonderful. 🙂
Single Dad,
I know a lot of parents/kids who could use this product. I personally hate to see older kids wearing inappropriate bibs. I will post this on my facebook and my blog. The product looks great to me.
Lisa
Thank you so much for posting this and for the comments! I can see that 5 pledges have come from this post alone!! Thank you so much and thank you everyone for spreading the word!!
You are welcome, great product idea. The timing was great, I have had a bit of a boost in traffic since being highlighted on AOL, so hopefully you see some effect from that as well.
Strangely, all who care for my son Chris have noticed a dramatic decrease in his drooling after starting the ketogenic diet. Chris’ nursing home aides and classroom aides remarked to me on this decrease, separately, without me asking them if they noticed any changes in Chris. He has far less laundry coming home now as his shirts and pants are not changed nearly as frequently.
Is this good or bad? A brand new summer school speech therapist (who had never seen Chris drooling) remarked that he handles his secretions well. Does he? Does he have dry mouth? Is he chewing/sucking less on his hands? Why is there so much less drool?
I am gladly surprised by this outcome and will be discussing it with his keto team tomorrow. There are still some seizures, but they are less severe and his diet needs tweaking, so maybe there’s hope there, too.
Kelly, Interesting. My kiddo has a neurological disease which when in full swing results in major drooling along with a bunch of other stuff. Many parents of kiddo’s with this thing have reported that the drooling is especially helped by a certain chemotherapy drug. I’m not at all suggesting that drooling in kids with neuro issues should be treated with chemo, but pointing out that it may be not be a coincidence that your son’s drooling has decreased with the ketogenic diet. Brains are so kooky.
SD, you are by far the hardest working dad in dad-business…. Hugs to you and Pearlsky always.
