“Why is there so much controversy about drug testing? I know plenty of guys who would be willing to test any drug they could come up with.” ~George Carlin
It’s been about five years, but yes, the nurses gave Pearlsky her amino acid in school today. Twice!
But before that, I was summoned to the Superintendent’s office …
I got a call around 10 this morning from the Assistant Superintendent …
I’d like you to come to my office and meet with me and Kay (head nurse) and put this thing to bed.
I thought they would be giving the amino acid today.
They are, I just really want it nailed down.
Ok, what time?
She is coming her at 11:00.
You really want to make sure I am not alone with her.
Ok, come at 11:15.
I get there at 11:15. I am greeted with a handshake and a smile from the Ass’t Superintendent, Kay stays seated and does not look at me.
Good to see you, Kay.
Yeah, I’m a prick.
Nothing much happened. The Assistant Superintendent agreed that I would send the amino acid in daily, in a marked container, etc. and kept asking the head nurse if she agreed. She mumbled “yes” once or twice. I left.
Good to see you, Kay.
Yep, I repeated it. What a prick.
The nurses gave the amino acid today. And will tomorrow. Just like the district’s doctor said to do weeks ago, the state Department of Public Health said, Pearlsky’s doctor’s have ordered for years, and the administration has said for years. Today they started.
That’s okay, because what Kay does not know is that the state has started their investigation into her license and years of neglect.
“That’s okay, because what Kay does not know is that the state has started their investigation into her license and years of neglect.”
Seriously?
You really want to make sure Kay is not alone with her.
Barbara is right. Do not allow Kay to be alone with Pearlsky. Seriously.
I always think of Nurse Ratched from One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest when you talk about the “head nurse”.
Success! Well done, SD.
However, I am seconding Barbara and Annie (thirding?) – this person IS NOT SAFE to be alone with Pearlsky.
Please also bear in mind that your blog could fairly easily be found by her if she used the right search string.
Good for you for being a prick to the nurse. I got a smile out of the thought of you killing her with kindness.
I have to agree with Barbara, Annie, and Becca – please, please make sure that Kay is never alone with Pearlsky. I wouldn’t trust that woman any further than I could throw her.
Isn’t it a testament to how low we have sunk as a society when you have your readers (rightfully) warning you not to let this woman who is professionally licensed with the state, be alone with your daughter, who is completely innocent in all of this? Pathetic, man.
This thing is definitely out of hand. I don’t know what kind of say you have in this whatsoever, but whatever pull you have, whatever power you wield, based on the attitude she showed towards you as you describe it here, she is definitely showing you that she feels ‘bested’ by you, and that is not a good sign.
People who feel defeated usually feel the need to seek vengeance. That has always been my experience. It’s simple. Human. Nature. And why our species in many ways doesn’t deserve this planet.
Nurse Ratched indeed.
Yes. Yes. Yes. What a very satisfying outcome. I feel good for you, made my day too. Just read all your posts re the amino acid debacle. I would say “unbelievable” but alas with my experiences of nurses I know it is not.
One of the many problems I’ve had with nurses over the years is in them not following my son’s care plans whilst he is respite. It’s very difficult to get evidence of this. I have been lied too ( albeit it mainly through emissions), ignored, falsely reassured. Recently had a meeting to update his care plan with the specific aim of trying to avoid the very sore bottoms he has been coming home with. With the new care plan in place he still came home with a sore bottom last stay. A very sore bottom. This stay I’ve been phoning more often to check if the plan is being followed. Bingo – yesterday found out eventually, through probing and very specific questions, which they really, really don’t like do they? they had not stopped his feed and winded him, and checked his pad half way through his am feed and at the end of his feed , AS IT SAYS IN HIS CARE PLAN, and even though in my regular update which I always send with him I again pointed out that he was opening his bowels at least once during his morning feed and yes he arrived at school in a soiled pad and a sore bottom. The young nurse apologised and then trying to end on a positive, passed on the info that Oscar had gone swimming in school (he usually misses out on this for various reasons) and that she had given him a shower when he got in from school. Great, except doesn’t it say IN HIS CARE PLAN…”NO SHOWERS” for Oscar ( he hates them).
UNBELIEVABLE…sadly not in my world. So as a fellow traveller so to speak, I am happy to enjoy your success in nailing nurse Kay on this very important issue.! 🙂
ok i meant omissions not emissions!
