“One of my main regrets in life is giving considerable thought to inconsiderate people.” ~Jarod Kintz

A month ago I got a call from the new Extended School Year (ESY – summer program, see last post) coordinator. Actually, he is just the teacher, but he gets a fancy title I guess. Or just made it up.

During the call he tells me that the program runs six weeks, five days a week, from 10 AM to 3 PM. I mentioned that last year the program started at 9, but was assured this year it was 10.

I don’t know about you, but I work. So do most parents, this is just crazy. I spent the last four weeks trying to get as much coverage as I needed for the mornings. There are many mornings where I need to be out before 10. Several nannies and friends and I compared schedules, changed appointments and figured it out.

I got a call from Mr. ESY Coordinator yesterday. Yesterday was Saturday, ESY starts Monday. He wanted to tell me that ESY was starting at 9. Before going completely ape-shit on him, I calmly asked when this was arranged. It appears about two weeks ago, and the therapists, nurses, transport, Pearlsky’s aide were all on board. When asked why I was not told, he said “that’s why I am calling you now.”

Less than two days before. It has been set for two weeks.

Moron.

I won’t share the emails, I may get accused of using my disabled child as a very convenient channel through which to vent ALL of my general frustrations. No, for that there is chapter 18 of Fifty Shades of Grey
