“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.” ~Helen Keller

I never had much fear of the dark. No love affair, mind you, but no real fear. Well, there was the night after I saw The Exorcist when in high school and stayed up all night because I was not going to close my eyes. And the night a couple of years ago that some

“Most of American life consists of driving somewhere and then returning home, wondering why the hell you went.” ~John Updike

It’s a three day weekend, Monday is a federal holiday. Just sitting at home, minding my own business, Sunday night, 9:00 pm and the phone rings. I do not know the woman, but she is with the school bus company that has been horrendous over the years. Hi Mr. Smith, this is Brenda with XYS

“He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.” ~Friedrich Nietzsche

It’s a three day weekend and my friends are all out of town or otherwise occupied. It’s me and her, “she who must be obeyed,” my daughter. Good time to sit back and contemplate: So, God, why did you mess up my kids so bad? Is this a cosmic joke, no god, just fate, just

At eight months there were some seizures. As with his sister at that time, still undiagnosed. At about a year old, the doctor

“Those who are lifting the world upward and onward are those who encourage more than criticize.” ~Elizabeth Harrison

I have been asked a couple of times about the logistics of dealing with my daughter. As she gets older, and heavier, I get older (of course not heavier!) and she is harder to lift. How have I dealt with this? I recently remodled her room. I installed a lift on a track that goes

“squeak, squeak …”

I pretty much have no idea why she is crying. Well, I have an idea or two, but she can’t tell me, can’t confirm. I do everything I can. Finally, I sit on the couch holding her as  she cries. For an hour. Good thing this blog is anonymous. Nothing to do but hold her.
